OUR ODBS RESIDENT RAPTORS
Featuring ONE OF our newest residentS …
Barney
Type: Barn Owl
Age: 11 months
Sex: Male
Barn owls are so uncommon in Wisconsin that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) removed them from the state endangered species list in 2014 for lack of records. But now, one of these owls has a home at Open Door Bird Sanctuary (ODBS) in Jacksonport.
Barney the barn owl flew into the sanctuary not on his wings, but on a plane that went from Phoenix, Arizona to Milwaukee, where ODBS Executive Director Rob Hults picked him up in early 2026.

SUPPORT A BIRD OF PREY
Adopt A Raptor
Our resident birds are the heart and soul of Open Door Bird Sanctuary, and make appearances with our volunteers in front of many thousands of people each year, to inspire and educate. Help support one or more of our 20 non-releasable birds through “Adoption”. Your contributions help ODBS offset costs for food, enrichment, medical care and training.
An annual adoption is a wonderful way to directly support the continuing care of our resident birds of prey.
To adopt, please email: jillaine.seefeldt@opendoorbirdsanctuary.org or call 414-897-6569. You can mail in a check, or use our DONATE BUTTON below to pay via credit card.
All adoptions are good for one year and are tax deductible. An adoption makes a great gift for any occasion.
